3D Art

Personal Logo

This project was simple yet fun. I got to put materials together to make a logo that portrays me. I learned how to solidify the paper by using glue and newspaper. I liked being able to come up with the design of the whole thing and being able to do it as I visioned it. The goal of the project was to make something that people would recognize as being a representation of me. I included my initials, a soccer ball, and my favorite colors so I believe I accomplished this and am happy with it. I learned how to be more creative which may help me in future art projects. I like that the design is original yet simple and the edges line p with each other. The thing I least like about this project is the wrinkles that formed from the glue-soaked newspaper which covers the paper.

Foam Object

This project was difficult and hard to perfect. Despite this I believe I accomplished making a foam representation of a hand sanitizer bottle well enough to fool someone for a second or two. I chose to do this because it was out of the ordinary and seemed doable. I learned how to properly carve and sand foam to make it a certain shape. I learned how to use multiple tool that helped me. The goal of the project was to carve a foam block into what looks like a random object to fool someone who looks at it for at least couple of seconds. I am happy with the result especially after I added the sticker to the front.

Raku Vase

This project took a very long time. This is my favorite project I have done in any art class that I have ever taken. Taking near four months, I have become attached to this vase. I am insanely happy with the design, both the shape and grooves. I am happy with the color and how the raku technique made it special. The goal of the project was to make a vase with grooves and to raku fire it to experience the process. If I could do it again, I would not do anything differently. I am very happy with my work and how it turned out. I learned how to correctly put coils together to make a cool shaped vase. I learned how to put a design it is using grooves. I learned the process of raku firing and how the glace works with the fire/smoke/oxygen.

Reed Lamp

This was somewhat of a last-minute, why-not type project. I am very glad I did it regardless. It taught me creativity and how to work on the fly. Although I am happy with my results, I could have done, and would do better next time, in many ways. I am excited to have this in my house and would do it again, having learned from my mistakes. I learned how to glue reeds together to come up with a base design of the lamp. I also learned how to glue tissue paper on to said reeds. I learned how to clean up the tissue paper then put starch onto it to make it stiffer. This piece is meaningful to me because it came directly from my mind and it is whatever I though to do next in the moment. The goal of this project was to make a lamp out of reed, tissue paper, and whatever was available to us to get the job done, and done well. I did accomplish this. Although I could have used other materials, I did not and I am happy with my results.
