Let's take a look at the sections of the Jazz Band!
The saxophone section is made up of two alto saxophones, two tenor saxophones and a baritone saxophone. The parts are spilt up into Alto 1, Alto 2, Tenor 1, Tenor 2, and Baritone. Sometimes, baritone saxophone plays the trombone part, but most of the time all 5 saxophones are together.
The trombone section this year is made up of three trombones. Typically there is a fourth trombone, but this year's section only has three. The trombone parts are split up into Trombone 1, Trombone 2, and Trombone 3.
The trumpet section is this year is also made up of only three members. Usually, a jazz band has four trumpets, but Bayonne's section only has three. The trumpet parts are spilt up into Trumpet 1, Trumpet 2, and Trumpet 3.
The rhythm section is the section that keeps the tempo and adds chords to the chart. This section is made up of drum set, bass, keyboard, vibraphone, timbales, congas and auxiliary percussion. Depending on the type of chart we play, they will either use drum set or timbales and congas.
