To join Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Concert Choir you have to put the class on your schedule. For Marching Band, you have to sign up through our information meeting in May. For Bees Knee's, you have to audition in the beginning in the school year.

In order to be a member of the BHSMB, you must be in grades 8-12 for the 2023-2024 school year.

The Color Guard is a very important section in the band! They use dance and spinnings flags to add to the visual component of marching band. You do NOT need any previous experience to join Color Guard! We will teach you everything you need to know.

Most members of the BHSMB have been playing their instruments for many years, however, we often have students change instruments or learn in marching band. If you do not play an instrument yet, you will likely be in front ensemble or color guard.

What is commitment for the BHSMB?
What is commitment for the BHSMB?
Typically, the BHSMB practices on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in the months of September and October, as well as the first week or two in November from around 6-9pm. We attend BHS football games on Friday nights and USBands competitions on Saturdays. Over the summer, we rehearse Tuesday nights from 5:30-7:30pm. The staff is very flexible with our students about rehearsals and VERY often accommodates those with conflicts due to other activities. We have MANY members who are involved in various activities.

Being a member of the BHSMB is completely FREE!!! We do hold fundraisers and expect participation!

I see that incoming 8th graders have to audition. Why and what is it like?
While the BHSMB does accept 8th graders, we have a small audition simply to hear you play and and see where you would be best placed in the ensemble! All you would need to do is play part of one of our show songs, which will be sent to you in advance.

YES!! All members must have an up-to-date physical completed to participate! You may still register online for the BHSMB, but you must have your physical done before we start rehearsals! *Physicals last a FULL calendar year.*
