Amber is from St. Paul, Minnesota and attended Columbia University for her B.S. in environmental engineering. After graduating in 2021, she spent two gap years working as a legal advocate for survivors of violent crime and as chief clinical assistant at a fertility clinic. She has volunteered as a rape crises counselor since 2020. In her free time, she enjoys fishing, doing crosswords, and spending time with her cat. She also has more than 15 house plants! At NYMC, Amber is the founder of the local MagicAid chapter, a volunteer organization that provides magic therapy to pediatric patients. She is passionate about patient care and advocacy, and hopes to bridge the gap between the clinical and emotional components of medical care in her future practice. Amber is honored to serve as a Student Senate President and advocate for her peers. She hopes to inspire kindness and joy in those around her.

Dorothy is originally from Great Neck, New York. She graduated from Hunter College’s Macaulay Honors College with a B.A. in Biochemistry and a minor in Asian American Studies. During her time at Hunter, she conducted research on microbes, colorectal cancer, and homelessness. She was also deeply involved in STEM mentorship, volunteered in the emergency department, and competed on the Hunter Cross Country team. Before medical school, Dorothy spent her gap year as a research associate at ICON plc, a global clinical research organization. At New York Medical College, she is an active member of the Radiology Interest Group, the Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA), the New York State Radiological Society, and social media chair of the student senate. Outside of academics, Dorothy enjoys running, weightlifting, baking, and challenging friends to games of Connect 4 (which she almost always wins). Jackie grew up in Briarcliff Manor, New York and graduated from Duke University in 2021 with a B.S.E. in Biomedical Engineering. Before medical school, she spent two years at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC, as a biomedical engineer in pediatric cardiology, where she developed a passion for combining research, technology, and patient care. At NYMC, Jackie founded the Ronald McDonald House initiative and has enjoyed finding ways to support pediatric patients and their families. She is currently applying to pediatrics residency and hopes to pursue pediatric cardiology, with interests in research, cardiovascular imaging, and interventional procedures. Outside of medicine, Jackie loves running, playing basketball, hiking, and spending time with family and friends. She is especially excited to run the New York City Marathon this year! This is her first year as a senator, and she is excited to be part of the Senate Research Subcommittee.

Jared is from Huntington Beach, California and attended UC Davis, where he graduated with a degree in Biological Sciences. At UC Davis, Jared played for the D1 baseball program, serving as team captain and team representative for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. In his two years post graduation, Jared worked as an intern with Healthcare in Action, a street medicine organization that brought healthcare and social services to patients experiencing homelessness. At NYMC, Jared is the former Student Senate Vice President, former president of the Orthopedic Surgery Interest Group and held leadership positions with the Homeless Outreach and Medical Education program, Flag Football Club and Golf Club. He plans to apply to orthopedic surgery residency with the Class of 2027, with interests in adult reconstruction and orthopedic trauma. In his free time, he enjoys working out, playing pick-up sports, golfing, playing fantasy football, and spending time with family and friends. Jared is extremely grateful to be a part of the Student Senate again this year and will work hard to advocate for his fellow classmates and improve the community at NYMC.

Joey is an M4 at NYMC in his third year on the student senate and is currently serving as our Treasurer. He has also served on executive boards for the Wellness Club, Medical Education Society, Save a Child's Heart and the PMP Program on campus, where he has enjoyed the opportunity to help promote the wellness and education of his peers. Before NYMC, he attended Iona University in New Rochelle. Having spent his entire life living in New York, Joey takes pride in calling himself a local guy. Outside of medicine, he is a huge New York sports fan, rooting for his Knicks, Yankees and Giants. He also loves spending time outside with family and friends and trying new foods. He is looking forward to another great year on Senate advocating for his classmates!

AJ Jaehoon Lee (he/him) is originally from Saratoga, California and graduated from Tufts University in 2023 with a degree in Biochemistry. Before starting medical school, he worked as a medical scribe in Boston, Massachusetts and conducted breast cancer research. He is currently involved in several clubs and research projects on campus, and works with other medical students across the country to raise awareness for alcohol intolerance. Outside of the classroom, he enjoys volunteering at Feeding Westchester, playing music with his friends, hiking, and learning new sports. He hopes his role as a senator will give a voice to his fellow students' needs. 

Atikul is a third year medical student at New York Medical College who has served as a Student Senator since his first year. He is from Queens, and most of his work outside the classroom has stayed rooted there. He serves as a volunteer coordinator at the Elmhurst Muslim Center, organizing the people and logistics behind community programming, and ran a fundraiser for Elmhurst Hospital during COVID. He is also a BeTheMatch student ambassador, working to widen the stem cell donor registry so that patients from underrepresented backgrounds have a real chance at a match. His path to medicine started at Stony Brook University, where he entered through the University Scholars Honors Program and earned his BS in Biochemistry. He proceeded to spend his gap years as an ophthalmic technician at Mount Sinai Eye and Ear and the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, taking on hands on diagnostic and minor procedural responsibility. He then went on to complete an MS in Biomedical Sciences at NYMC before starting the MD program. At NYMC, he is a PLP, tutoring first and second year students across medical school subjects, and separately tutors cardiology physiology specifically. He is also involved with OSIG and SAMSA. His research spans neurology and epilepsy, surgical outcomes, and disparities in inpatient care.

Haley was born and raised just outside of Los Angeles, California. She graduated from Northwestern University in 2023 with a degree in Neuroscience. Following college, she worked as an Orthopedic Surgery scribe and research assistant, focusing on non-surgical treatments for osteoarthritis and meniscus repair recovery strategies. Aside from being a senator, Haley serves as a Mentorship Chair of the American Medical Women’s Association at NYMC as well as captain of her flag football team! In her free time, Haley enjoys pilates, reading, and watching reality television. This is her first year as a senator and she is excited to make a difference!

Originally from Kansas City, Lydia Jackson attended Washington University in St. Louis where she graduated with a Chemistry major and a minor in modern dance. Shortly after finishing her degree, Lydia moved to New York to attend Joffrey Ballet School on scholarship to pursue intensive training before working as a freelance dancer and choreographer in the tristate area. With the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic she set her sights on healthcare and medicine. During her time in medical school, Lydia has enjoyed being an active member of the community, creating the writing club and participating in house of representatives, arrhythmias, the wellness ambassador program, and transplant education program. She is excited to be a part of senate for the first time and help continue to make New York Medical College a better place for her classmates. In her free time Lydia enjoys running, writing, gardening and drinking lots of tea.

Ryan is originally from Orlando, Florida, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Professional Biology from the University of Florida, along with a graduate certificate in Medical Pharmacology & Therapeutics. Before embarking on his journey to medical school, he gained diverse experience in healthcare, working as a patient care assistant at UF Shands Health Cancer Hospital, a medical scribe for a family medicine doctor, and a research assistant at Weill Cornell Medicine in the Program for the Care and Study of the Aging Heart. Additionally, he shared his passion for fitness as a personal trainer at Equinox.

At New York Medical College, Ryan is honored to serve as a student senator while also holding leadership roles in the Orthopedic Surgery Interest Group, the Student National Medical Association (SNMA), and the Weightlifting Club. In his free time, he enjoys weightlifting, running, biking, swimming, and exploring the outdoors with friends and family. Ryan is dedicated to advocating for his peers and creating opportunities for students to grow into compassionate, skilled physicians

Christopher is an M2 at New York Medical College pursuing his MD degree and participating in the Nutrition and Culinary Medicine Area of Concentration. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Biological Sciences. Before and throughout his journey to medical school, Christopher spent nearly a decade working on Block Island as an EMT and assistant harbormaster, experiences that strengthened his commitment to service, teamwork, and caring for his community. At NYMC, Christopher currently serves as an M2 Student Senator with a particular focus on housing and improving the student experience. He also serves as Treasurer of the Knitting and Crocheting Club, Event Coordinator for the Harm Reduction Club, and Vice President of ASIHC. Through these roles, he enjoys finding practical ways to promote student wellness, strengthen the NYMC community, and advocate for his classmates. Outside of medicine, Christopher enjoys spending time with friends and his dog Lily and is an avid fan of both college and professional football, especially the Fighting Irish and the New York Giants. He is grateful for the opportunity to serve his classmates through Senate and looks forward to continuing to advocate for initiatives that make NYMC a more supportive, connected, and enjoyable place for students.

David (he/him) is an M2 Senator originally from Belmont, Massachusetts and graduated from Northeastern University in 2024 with a combined degree in Data Science and Biology. Before medical school, David worked as a research assistant in the Sinclair Lab at Harvard Medical School, a Data Scientist at Merck, and an EMT in the Greater Boston area. At NYMC, David serves as an M2 Senator and is on the Senate Library Subcommittee. He also serves as the Music Director of the NYMC Arrhythmias A Cappella. Outside of medicine, David is a Boston sports fan and Pokémon fan and enjoys trying new activites (currently pickleball and Slay the Spire 2). He is grateful for the opportunity to serve his classmates through Senate and looks forward to continuing to advocate for initiatives that make NYMC a more supportive, connected, and enjoyable place for students.

Kathryn is an M2 Senator pursuing a dual MD/MPH degree. Kathryn was born and raised in Queens and later graduated from New York University in 2023, where she conducted research on bias development in children. During her two gap years, Kathryn worked as a clinical research coordinator at the NYU Langone Vaccine Center, where she maintained several vaccine and HIV-treatment clinical trials. She also served as the community engagement coordinator for the Center, organizing community advisory board meetings and community-based events. These experiences have heavily encouraged Kathryn's interest in public health and clinical research! As an M1, Kathryn served as a Senator, the External Communications Chair of the Medical Student Research Forum, and M1 Representative for the Women in Medicine Club. Currently, Kathryn serves as the Vice President and is on the Senate Research and Facilities Subcommittees. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, sitting in the sun, and reading. This year, Kathryn plans to continue to make research more accessible for NYMC students by expanding the Comprehensive Research Guide and maintaining the Alumni Research Repository.

Kevin grew up in Austin, Texas, and graduated from the University of Texas with degrees in Neuroscience and Government. While at UT, he co-found a pre-med club, worked as a patient care technician, was a member of the Texas Rock Climbing Club Team, and enjoyed studying the intersection between policy and healthcare. After college, Kevin completed an M.S. in Accelerated Interdisciplinary Biomedical Sciences at NYMC. 

As an M1, he served as secretary for the Climbing Club and was a Senator on the Food Services Subcommittee. Now as an M2, Kevin is the Co-Vice President of the Orthopedic Surgery Interest Group and is serving as the Senate Secretary. In his free time, he enjoys skiing, surfing,  camping, and playing guitar. Kevin aims to continue to advocate for his class and make NYMC feel like home for everyone.

Aidan is from Danville, CA and was neighbors with Phineas and Ferb. He graduated from Pitzer College in 2024 with a B.A. in Neuroscience. In his 2 gap years, Aidan worked in urology, coached volleyball, and mentored Asian American youth as counselor and Program Director for the largest Taiwanese American summer camps in California. At NYMC, Aidan is eager to pursue Diagnostic Radiology and continue his passions for music, athletics, and cultivating tight-knit communities. One of Aidan's goals as Senator is for everyone to know each other by name. If you see Aidan in the wild, please do not hesitate to say hi. He may appear sleep-deprived and shy, but truthfully he is certainly not shy!

Grace grew up in Toronto, Ontario, and attended the University of Toronto, where she completed two degrees: a Bachelor’s in Physiology & Pharmacology and a Master’s in Medical Physiology. Throughout her undergraduate, Grace was involved in courses, clubs, and community initiatives focused on making healthcare more accessible to vulnerable populations. These experiences sparked her interest in understanding the intersection of health, healthcare systems, and social inequities, an interest she continued exploring throughout her Master’s program. Outside of academics, Grace enjoys doing gel nail art, crocheting, and listening to obscure artists that she will probably insist are “actually so good.” At NYMC, she is excited to continue developing both her academic and personal interests. She currently serves as an M1 representative for the Knitting & Crocheting Club and hopes to convince as many people as possible to pick up a needle and join in. Grace is incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve as an M1 Senator and is excited to help create a supportive and collaborative environment as we learn, grow, and work toward becoming exceptional physicians together.

Jayneel Mahida is from San Francisco, CA, and graduated from UC San Diego with a B.S. in Molecular and Cell Biology and a minor in Psychology. At UCSD, he explored his interests in medicine through cardiovascular research and clinical experiences at Jacobs Medical Center, while also developing a passion for medical education and 3D printing. After graduation, Jayneel spent two years working as an EMT in event medicine, providing care at events including Outside Lands, Super Bowl 60, and FIFA. He also volunteered at a community food pantry and worked in motel operations, which deepened his appreciation for service, teamwork, and community. At NYMC, Jayneel serves as the M1 Liaison for BNGAP and Treasurer of the Hiking Club. He is interested in exploring surgical specialties, particularly cardiothoracic and trauma surgery. Outside of medicine, he enjoys weightlifting, volleyball, photography, exploring NYC and Westchester, and spending time with friends and family. Jayneel is grateful for the opportunity to represent his M1 classmates in the Student Senate and looks forward to listening, advocating for their needs, and helping build a stronger NYMC community.

Nila lived across several states and cities growing up, but she ultimately calls Southern California home. She graduated from UCLA in 2023 with a BS in Physiological Sciences. During undergrad, she found the most joy in student government, working as a learning assistant, and doing graphic design and DJing for school radio. After graduating, Nila’s experiences living in multiple cities parked her passion for urban health and advocacy. She spent her gap years serving as a Crisis Text Line counselor, volunteering at an LGBTQ+ shelter, and participating in street outreach at her local needle exchange. As a future physician, her clinical goals center on street medicine, harm reduction, and LGBTQ+ healthcare. In her free time she can be found reading, painting, knitting, and hosting gatherings with friends. She looks forward to advocating for her classmates and helping create an even more welcoming community here at NYMC. 

Ravid grew up in Newton, Massachusetts, and graduated from UMass Amherst in 2023 with a B.S. in Biochemistry and Psychology. Before medical school, he worked as a research associate at Dana-Farber, an EMT in the greater Boston area, and a medical assistant at a dermatology clinic outside of Boston. At NYMC, Ravid serves as an M1 Senator and is excited to explore the many fields of medicine as he discovers where his interests lie. In his free time, he enjoys working out, playing spikeball, reading, and spending time with his friends, family, and dog, Pepsi. Ravid is incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Student Senate and looks forward to advocating for his classmates, enacting positive change, and helping foster the best possible experience at NYMC.
