Audrey is from Washington state and graduated from the University of Washington with a major in Physiology and a minor in Nutrition. Prior to entering medical school, she helped teach undergraduate anatomy and physiology courses, which contributed to her interest in education. She also worked as a clinical laboratory technician at a virology lab, where she participated in COVID-19 testing. She continued her work with a neuropathology lab as an autopsy assistant, extracting and preserving tissues from the bodies of organ donors for scientific research. In her free time, she really enjoys art journaling, hiking, and cooking. At NYMC, Audrey is Co-President of the Student Interest Group in Neurology (SIGN) and Co-President of the Gold Humanism Honor Society (GHHS). She is actively engaged in medical education and neurology research. Audrey is excited to continue working as a Student Senator and advocating for meaningful and constructive changes to enhance the student experience.
Ipsha grew up in sunny Phoenix, AZ, and graduated from UC Berkeley with degrees in Integrative Biology and Psychology. Before medical school, she completed a master’s in Biomedical Informatics at ASU/Mayo Clinic, where her research focused on improving health data-sharing frameworks. At NYMC, she has loved organizing wellness initiatives and finding ways to keep class morale alive, especially during exam season. When she’s not studying or leading projects, Ipsha is likely painting, talking to her olive tree, or roaming the frozen aisles of Trader Joe’s. She looks forward to serving on Senate one final year to help her class end their medical school journey with meaningful memories and well-deserved celebrations!
Greg is a native of Rochester, New York. He attended college at Columbia University, studying Mathematics and Philosophy while on the Heavyweight Rowing Team. He then returned to Rochester in 2017 to attend the post-baccalaureate program at the University of Rochester. There, he discovered a love of education and mentorship, both as a rowing coach and a teaching assistant for general and organic chemistry. In his free time, he enjoys reading, cooking, camping, and catching up with friends and family. At NYMC, he is involved in the Environmental Health Interest Group and Medistorian Society. He also spends his time volunteering as an interviewer for the Department of Admissions, as well as at a local food pantry. He previously served his class as a Course Representative during the preclinical years. Greg is proud to work as a Senator for the Class of 2026 this year. He hopes to be a reliable and hard-working Senator, and he is always available to lend a hand to his classmates.
Lillian is from Queens, NY, and attended Boston University for her B.S. in Human Physiology and New York Medical College for her M.S. in Basic Medical Sciences. Before medical school, she worked as a pharmacology researcher, chief scribe, project manager, and consultant, providing different lenses into healthcare and pushing her interests in healthcare policy and operations. Thrilled to return to NYMC, where she founded the STEM Mentorship Club and served as Co-President of Clinical Chinese Club, Lillian plans to continue advocating for community growth, inclusion, and wellness. Passionate about leadership, Lillian hopes to inspire everyone at NYMC to find their niche. This year, Senate will continue to focus on wellness, career development, and alumni networking, while transforming the Senate website into a comprehensive hub for student resources, event updates, and important announcements. Shray is a Westchester native who grew up just 10 minutes from campus in Briarcliff Manor. He earned his B.S. in Human Biology, Health, and Society from Cornell University, where he founded the Ithaca Health Initiative and conducted stem cell biology research both on campus and at the Icahn School of Medicine. After graduating, he worked as a research technician at the Sloan Kettering Institute, volunteered as an EMT, and served as an AmeriCorps member at the Community Healthcare Network in NYC. At NYMC, Shray has served on the e-boards of the Surgery Interest Group and Transplant Education Program, is involved in multiple surgery-focused research projects, and sits on the Senate Research Subcommittee. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, watching football, and spending time with friends and family. He’s excited to serve as a senator and is committed to strengthening NYMC’s culture of collaboration, community, and scholarship.
Sumaita was born and raised in Queens, New York. She graduated from New York University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Global Public Health and Chemistry with minors in History and Genetics. After earning her degree, she worked as the clinical coordinator during her glide year between medical school and undergraduate at Jacobi Medical Center's Tropical Medicine and Parasitology Clinic. She also worked as interim coordinator for the Office of Faculty Development at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. On weekends, she had the opportunity to be a patient advocate as part of Bellevue Hospital's PAVERS program. After her time in different parts of the NYC Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC) system, she hopes to return to this system one day as an attending, serving the community that has supported her. In her free time, she kayaks. At NYMC, Sumaita is currently an MD/MPH candidate, events coordinator for BNGAP, and President of the Medistorian Society. More importantly, she is humbled to be able to represent her class with her fellow Senators, hoping to advocate for her peers as she would for future patients.
Amber is from St. Paul, Minnesota and attended Columbia University for her B.S. in environmental engineering. After graduating in 2021, she spent her two gap years working as a legal advocate for survivors of violent crime and chief clinical assistant at a fertility clinic. She has also spent the past three years as a rape crises counselor working with survivors in the emergency department. In her free time, she enjoys running, doing crosswords, and spending time with her cat. At NYMC, Amber is the founder of the local MagicAid chapter, an organization that provides pediatric patients with magic therapy. She is passionate about patient care and advocacy, and hopes to bridge the gap between the clinical and emotional components of medical care in her future practice. Amber is honored to serve as a Student Senator and advocate for her peers. She hopes to inspire kindness and joy in those around her.
Dorothy is originally from Great Neck, New York. She graduated from Hunter College’s Macaulay Honors College with a B.A. in Biochemistry and a minor in Asian American Studies. During her time at Hunter, she conducted research on microbes, colorectal cancer, and homelessness. She was also deeply involved in STEM mentorship, volunteered in the emergency department, and competed on the Hunter Cross Country team. Before medical school, Dorothy spent her gap year as a research associate at ICON plc, a global clinical research organization. At New York Medical College, she is an active member of the Radiology Interest Group, the Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA), the New York State Radiological Society, and social media chair of the student senate. Outside of academics, Dorothy enjoys running, weightlifting, baking, and challenging friends to games of Connect 4 (which she almost always wins). Jared is from Huntington Beach, California and attended UC Davis, where he graduated with a degree in Biological Sciences. At UC Davis, Jared played for the D1 baseball program, serving as team captain and team representative for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Jared also worked as a high school baseball coach, a brain development researcher, and a COVID-19 test volunteer during his time at Davis. In his two years post graduation, Jared worked as a Medical Scribe/Technician for an Ophthalmology clinic and interned with Healthcare in Action, a street medicine organization that brought healthcare and social services to patients experiencing homelessness. At NYMC, Jared is involved with the Orthopedic Surgery Interest Group, HOME, Flag Football Club and Golf Club. In his free time, he enjoys working out, playing pick-up sports, golfing, playing fantasy football, and spending time with family and friends. Jared is extremely grateful to be a part of the Student Senate again this year and will work hard to advocate for his fellow classmates and improve the community at NYMC. He is excited to take on the role of Outreach Coordinator to continue building the strong bond between the NYMC community and the student body.
Joey is an M3 at NYMC in his first year on the student senate. In his time on campus, he’s become involved with three clubs that he’s passionate about: the Wellness Club, Medical Education Society, and Save a Child’s Heart. Joey’s a local guy from White Plains, and has always loved New York. For fun, he likes to try new foods in the city, and watch or play just about any sport. He is looking forward to a great year in Senate advocating for his classmates!
Nadia was born and raised here in NY and is a first generation American whose parents are from Argentina. She graduated from The Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford with a degree in Classical Vocal Performance. Before completing college she began working for a tech-startup called Bright Line Eating that helps people who struggle with food addiction. She remains very involved with the research arm of their organization. Shortly after college, she went on to study massage therapy at the Finger Lakes School of Massage which inspired her to pivot toward a career in medicine. She also holds leadership positions with the Music as Medicine as well Medical Musician organizations at NYMC. Nadia is excited to be a part of the Student Senate to advocate for her class and contribute to the flourishing NYMC community.
Atikul was born and raised in Queens, New York. He graduated from Stony Brook University with a biochemistry major in 2022. He has always been drawn to understanding how healthcare impacts people on a personal level. His path to medicine took shape during his college years, where he balanced pre-med studies with community outreach and mentorship roles. Atikul found that supporting fellow students, whether through facilitating student discussion as a teaching assistant or by organizing wellness events through his non-profit, was just as rewarding as his academic achievements. Now, as an M2 Senator at New York Medical College, he continues to advocate for his classmates and contribute to a positive, supportive learning environment. When he's not focused on school, Atikul enjoys following the Knicks, exploring new restaurants, and thrifting for unique finds that bring out his creative side.
Dhruba grew up in Jericho, New York, and graduated from Binghamton University in 2023 with a major in Integrative Neuroscience. While in undergrad, he contributed to research in a neurobiology lab investigating molecular and behavioral changes associated with alcohol use disorder and wrote a thesis regarding sex differences in alcohol-induced changes to the medial prefrontal cortex. Now serving as a first-year senator at medical school, Dhruba is excited to advocate for his classmates and ensure their voices are heard in shaping their medical education experience. He is passionate about patient advocacy and believes that building strong communication and support systems within the medical community is essential to becoming a well-rounded physician. In his free time, Dhruba enjoys cooking, paddleboarding, and planning events for friends and family. He looks forward to continuing to develop his leadership skills and making a positive impact on both his peers and future patients.
Haley was born and raised just outside of Los Angeles, California. She graduated from Northwestern University in 2023 with a degree in Neuroscience. Following college, she worked as an Orthopedic Surgery scribe and research assistant, focusing on non-surgical treatments for osteoarthritis and meniscus repair recovery strategies. Aside from being a senator, Haley serves as a Mentorship Chair of the American Medical Women’s Association at NYMC as well as captain of her flag football team! In her free time, Haley enjoys pilates, reading, and watching reality television. This is her first year as a senator and she is excited to make a difference!
Ryan is originally from Orlando, Florida, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Pre Professional Biology from the University of Florida, along with a graduate certificate in Medical Pharmacology & Therapeutics. Before embarking on his journey to medical school, he gained diverse experience in healthcare, working as a patient care assistant at UF Shands Health Cancer Hospital, a medical scribe for a family medicine doctor, and a research assistant at Weill Cornell Medicine in the Program for the Care and Study of the Aging Heart. Additionally, he shared his passion for fitness as a personal trainer at Equinox. In his free time, he enjoys weightlifting, running, and exploring the outdoors with friends and family. Ryan is honored to serve as a student senator, advocating for his peers and striving to create opportunities for students to grow into compassionate, skilled physicians
Tricia has lived within viewing distance of the WMC hospital lights in Hawthorne, New York, for most of her life. She graduated in 2023 from the University of Notre Dame with a Neuroscience B.S. and a supplemental major in Spanish Literature. Prior to matriculation at NYMC, she worked in Life Sciences consulting at ClearView Healthcare Partners, integrating her scientific expertise into strategic and financial opportunity assessments.
Due to her wonder at the interconnected nature of the sciences, Tricia holds a breadth of experience within scientific research, from psychology to clinical biochemistry. She has tutored with the NYC nonprofit Common Denominator and mentored Notre Dame underclassmen on the (grueling) premed path and consulting interview process.
Her position as a Wellness Officer at both her prior workplace and her alma mater reflects her enjoyment of baking, sports, and spending time with family and friends, and her eagerness to facilitate a positive work-life environment for others. On Senate, she hopes to encourage NYMC students to foster community and humanism within medicine.
