For the 2017-2019 Hydro Dynamics season, we had two teams in our school, the Zion Lions and the Zion Noiz.
Founded by ten dedicated students at Zion Heights Middle School for a First Lego League project, the Zion Lions were dedicated to reducing water wastage.
Our idea was a Smart Water Meter, a water meter that measures the amount of water used, the time it was used, and whether you have a leak. Unlike other leak prevention systems, this will be very good for industry, as it also detects the precise location of the leak. The meter sends all that info to our app, or website, if you prefer, which lets you access that info without checking the physical meter.
This product would promote smarter water usage and help you save more on your water bills. You could save up to $121 a year by just detecting or preventing one small leak!
Founded by ten dedicated students at Zion Heights Middle School for a First Lego League project, the Zion Noiz were dedicated to reducing water wastage at home in a cheap, innovative way.
You know the cold water that comes out at the beginning of the shower? If you're like most people, you jump to the side while you wait for the water to heat up. This may not seem like you waste a lot of water, but this can waste at least 11 461 gallons of water per household per year.
Our solution was the Ultimate Shower System, which is simply an added pipe that is strategically placed to allow water to flow back into the water heater, which then heats up the water, giving you the ideal temperature of your water without the wait for it.
