Throughout the season, our team has been incorporating team-building activities into everything we do. From introductions at the beginning of the season to games that we play at the beginning of a school year, the Zion Lions were always practicing Core Values as part of the FLL season. By the time we went to the regional qualifier, we were a very "tight-knit, cohesive unit", in the words of the judges that we were very lucky to meet.
The team-building and application of the FLL core values that we had been practicing throughout the season paid off when we won the Core Values Award.
Although we were honored to win the award, in our opinion, it isn't what we win, it's what we learn. And more than the award, we felt that the lessons we learned from this year's regional qualifier were invaluable.
We hope to have a diverse learning experience at the provincial championships. We plan to speak to different teams before that, and learn as much as we can from from their experiences as well, anything from coding a mission to coming up with alternative solutions that also work for a singular problem, and reaching out to other professionals.
