Mini Portrait Diorama
First time of the art class, I found some informations about Alexandra Dillon. I found some portraits of her work, it really strange. She drew human's eyes and lips on the brush, also the animals. Most of brushes, keys and locker from flea markets or other artists donate to Dillon. I'm going to talk a little bit of informations about Dillion. She was born in Los Angeles and she is a Los Angeles-based surrealistic painter. Her father was a screenwriter and her grandmothers were extra on Ben Hur. She has exhibited her portraits at LAUNCH Gallery, Gryphon Lofts, SOapbox GAllery and Onyx CAfe in California since 1996. I think she is very interesting person.Â
I learned the skin tones. I used the paint tray to make skin tone color and paint on the paper. I think my skin tone table is terrible, because I made a lot of mistakes. There's something about the skine tone they say create a skin tones working from light to dark. I tried to make like that but, it looks very messy. However, when I finished to paint the skin tones on my skin tone table. I wrote about this. I answer questions about what did I do, why did I do this, How did I do it, How do is it and what did I learn about this. Left sides, there are my answers
This is the portrait of the woman. This is my first time to use the shadow for draw, so it's really look mess. We did divide the three parts of the face. The each part has the 1/3 par of the face. The top of the part is between eyebrow and top of the head. Midle part is between bottom of the nose and eyebrow. The last one is chin and the bottom of the nose. That glaucose colour represents same as the middle part of the face. That red line represents the whole face. The hardest one for me was the shadow. I never draw the shadow before, so it was really really hard for me. Can you see the last part of the face? I think it doesn't look the shadow. It looks like mustache. The another thing which is hard for me were lips and the nose. I had to draw the lips between that thin red line. It was hard for me to fit the line and I never try to draw the nose like real. That's why I was really hard to draw the nose. The easiest thing for me was the eyes. When I was boring, I'm always drawing the eyes. That's why the eyes easiest thing for me. But I still think it is my worst drawing in this year. Now, I got improvement about shadow, so I think if I will draw this again. I can make the best shadow drawing in this year.
This is my another shadow design. This time, I was really carefully drawing the nose. I was delicately drawing the shadow on the nose. I was making the dark shadow just beside of the nose and making the light shadow far from the nose. Also, I was making the gradation on inside of the nose. Can you see the dots on my drawing? Those are the three part of the face. I was using those three dots for drawing. It was really helpful for me. This time, the hardest one was the lip. I still remember that I was making more than 50 lips for this drawing. I erased the lips and draw the lips again and again. Last time the hardest one for me were lip and nose, and this time the hardest one was only the lip. I think the next time I will also improve the lip. I believe. Look at that eyes, I think they are very similar as the original picture. Drawing the eyes are very excitied for me. There are eyebrows, they are connect with the top of the nose. I was drawing so light, so we can not see very detaily. But I was drawing the both of the eyebrows to connect the top of the nose. There is some deficient parts for me, but the nose is really perfect for me. This is my drawing of the nose in my life.
