The Whole Person The Whole Point
In winter it gets really dark and as you arrive at you house at night st must be hard to see and unock your door or punch in a key code
You are required to make a small slim-line torch that will help light up a small area so you can see in the dark
Restrictions are set so that solving the design problem is made easier for you.
You should therefore consider the restrictions set out below:
The material that is recommended is Acrylic, however you can use any laser cut material
The finish of your torch must be of the highest quality
You must use the electronic components provided
You must provide a means of affixing a key / keys
Your torch must have no sharp edges
You will use two layers of 3mm Acrylic, 70mm x 50mm for the top & bottom and one piece of 5mm clear Acrylic, 70mm x 50mm for the middle
The shape in the middle is for the switch.
The holes are for the screws to join the layers together
First I started to practice lines and 2d crating with a pencil also practicing straight lines too.
I started sketching out some ideas for my design using 2d crating and a pencil.
I used a 0.5for the sencond and third layers.
I also use a 0.8 for the first layer so it will be clear that it s the first layer.
its basically going from dark to light! like going from dark to light to show the 3dDuring my lesson I did rendering to color my design ideas!
I used some of these colored pencils
This is the work that that zack lewis and tanapon did I really liked the end result I never expected for my bear to turn into a cat.
The last ones I thought the lines were a bit wonky so I tried to make it straight.
This one I didnt really understand what it was supposed to be so I just tried my best to make it better.
For this one I just did the normal design but added visible stripes.
For this on the task was to make all three layers visible which was hard because this one was super confusing..
This is my design development I turned my original design yo a one I thought was better a cinnamoroll design. It was a bit difficult because I had to make the body super long
This is my cirrent development paper I changed alot of colors.
This is my card model design this is my first layer. The first layer should just be the shape of my design.
This is all of my equippment a cutter to cut the card, glasses to protect my eyes and the mat to protect the table.
First I started cutting the rabbits ear.
Then when I finished all of the cutting and I started peeling the left over .paper of
This is the finished product.
I think I was a thinker because it was a bit difficult to figure out the layers.
These are all the tools that i am using in onshape.
This is the undo button
THis is how I moved my shape to see all angles
I used this button to to make my torch symetrycal
his is the sketch tool I used
This is the template I am using.
Right now I am experimenting with the colors
I tried this color but I felt like the colors didn't match
Then I tried pastel amd I thought it looked like cotton candy so I like cotton candy thats why i decided on this color.
Then I tried some warm and light colors but I decided on the pastel.
This is the left side
This is the right side
I changed my design so I am going sketch it out.
Then I started extruding the top layer
Then the middle layer
and now the top
This is the 1st layer.
This is the 2nd lauer.
This is the 3rd layer.
This is it put together.
And this is my torch put together and in my hand.
This is the tapper I use it to tap the holes out if there are anything in the holes.
This is the countersink
I use the countersink to make a hole so I can put my screw in.
This is the torch in my hand with the screw
Now I am going to use this vice to hold my toch while I file it.
Right now I am filing it I will know when I am done filing when its the same consistency as eachother and a milk carton.
Right now I am filing the edges to make it more smoother to the touch
These are the files the one on the top is the one that I am using.
This is how it looks like after filing.
I hve just seperated them to file more carefully
I am filing the inside of the rabbit ear
This is the triangle file it makes it easier to file the curves
This is what it looks like after filing using the triangle file
When I am done I will start using the wet and dry paper.
Right now I am cross filing to make it the same consistency as a milk carton.
I have to file the edges more because I asked my friends if it was smooth and they sait that maybe I should file the eges more
I am filing the inside kore this time with a round file as Miss Douglas said it might be better.
This is Marla's torch project she already finished using the brasso and I think that it is very smooth.
I am now filing the inside of the ear with a straight file and I have to ne very careful for the file notti change the shape kf the ears.
These are the 3 files I used today the straight one for the inside of the ears and the round ones were for the edges.
WHAT WENT WELL:I am now nearly finished with the filing
.WHAT COULD BE BETTER:The consitency of the filing
Goal: Finish brassering
