W/C 18th March - This week we have started the context and research for our FMP. I have initially came up with a brief idea about a new brand of innovation but I do need to further this idea into something more concrete quickly otherwise it will be difficult to make any more content. To do this I could ask for peer help or tutor advice. But I will attempt to further this over the holidays in my own time.
W/C 25th March - This week I am furthering my idea by starting my content. I am not fully happy with the design's I have currently designs. I will look for other potential idea's.
W/C 1st April - This week I have had lots of time to explore other potential idea's that are better then the ones I didn't care for much. However I need to spend more time annotating them. Without annotations I might not even pass, never mind a merit which I hope to achieve.
W/C 8th April - I am more then adequality impressed with the work I have completed this week. I have progressed my idea and now with this foundation of idea I have been able to create more content for my brand name.
W/C 15th April - I have started my pitch for my presentation on my brand name. This shows that I have fully thought out my idea and that I can use my improved presenting skills to pitch my brand name. I got some good advice from Lou about where I should take it next, looking at other marketeer's to further my brand.
W/C 22nd April - After my pitch last Friday, I know where to go to progress my brand marketing. I have reached out to some marketing companies in Nottingham to ask them how they market their marketing. I have started a survey for my marketing company and have got some responses, all have been very helpful in identifying colour and preference with brands. I also had a "marketing meeting" with a fitness instructor called Mr. motivator. I learned that in order to be a successful brand you have to put yourself out there consistently. I learned that you can use content to make content of other forms that is more accessible to a certain audience. For example a long you tube live session can be turned into shorts question and answer sessions.
Tutor Feedback & state - W/C 29th April - For this week I need to develop my annotations and evaluations as they are not specific enough. I still have my photography to do, but I am going to book a time next week. I need one greenscreen background so I can easily remove the background and one colourful one that is bright. We had a photoshoot lesson where I helped one of the classmates, Abdi who was new to using the lights. I helped with the LED lights, set design and camera settings.
W/C 6th May - This week I have took feedback that I need to try and be more creative with other already existing brand logo's. This has helped me design good idea's that are already existing but have my own idea to them. I have still learned skills despite the copying of the theme. It is coming towards the end of the project and I still have a small bit of photography to do, so I need to book that quickly.
I am very happy with the variety of logo's I have experimented with, this gave me a good way of showing lots of potential idea's. I varied colour, shape, type and method. I was thinking of potential changes to make to my idea's thought the whole process. I found it interesting that my original idea's look nothing like anything I have finished with. I can be very motivated when it comes to doing something which I want to do, and this project has been included in that, there has been no lack of motivation to continue. At the start I had a basic idea of what I wanted to achieve, but had some experimenting to do with illustrator as while I hadn't had direct experience with it there were other applications I used that were similar that I could map with it.
One thing I have really excelled with is keeping up with work on my own accord, I haven't straddled away to focus on things I shouldn't have focused on. I have been independent while allowing thoughts from others to help guide me along.
I have progressed my knowledge of how to build a brand, in terms of the methods of marketing that companies use for specific audiences. I learned that brands have different "personality's" that need to be clearly & consistently be displayed across all of their marketing. I have expanded my knowledge of adobe illustrator. Throughout the course and this project, I have also learned the importance of getting feedback from others, it is okay to think your own work is good or minor changes to make. But someone could say something that allows you to modify it to its best potential or remove a mistake that you have made. My research has gone well and been useful as I have used surveys, external research from websites and knowledge and feedback from peers.Â
One thing I haven't done so great with is understanding the grounds of work that I needed to layout in order to know what to do for my FMP initially I thought of potential thoughts/products that are relevant to todays modern day, but couldn't get much from that. So in order to figure this out I did research which I have referenced on my research page. I also asked my classmates on what they think I should do. And ended up with the main subject of this course which is digital marketing.
I also could have been slightly more accurate with my marketing questions as less then 50% of the answers were useful. The answers that helped me where the primary colours for my brand. However for my question of which was the most liked platform, I happened to finish with a 50/50 split between YouTube and TikTok.
Sadly I have faced obstacles that I have had to overcome such as using a custom font for my own site as I couldn't upload my own. So I had to use a font provided that was similar. Additionally I know others faced obstacles, for example using a professional camera or skills with technical work that I have had familiar experience with in the past. I helped a student in the studio to experiment with lighting by giving technical advice.
3 Development targets for next year:
Organise text and images better, so they make more sense with what goes where.
Better planning for photography, although I had good photography I didn't know what I wanted from it
Develop my skills in design work using research
