Due to a PDS traditionally being constructed with numerical values, it was quite difficult to build mine due to my topic on burnout being quite subjective or qualitative rather than quantative. Therefore, this is a hurdle I'll have to tackle in the coming week and so currently I filled in what I could. Among all the qualitative aspects of the project, there was still the quantative component of time/duration for each motion short.
After realising I hadn't filled in the PDS table correctly in regards to the need and metric, I made further changes. I also continued to consider what needs had to be addressed for my project and how the success of the needs being met will be measured. On the WIP of the PDS, the highlighted rows are still being considered whether they are relevant.
I finalised my PDS by looking over all the areas one more time and making changes where necessary. This included rewording some of the needs and cutting out irrelevant needs or needs that were a given but didn't need to be mentioned. After discussion with my supervisor, there was also the addition of an eighth need - this involved making sure all the content included is research based.
Having completed the PDS, I've realised that although I experienced immense difficulty constructing it due to its subjectivity, there was a sense of clarity that surfaced with what needs to be addressed and achieved for this project. I deduced that a clear and sensitive communucation of burnout is key for the animation series. Furthermore, it not only needs to attract its target audience of workplace people by being relevant to the workplace, but it also needs to hold credibility through research-based content. In addition to the PDS assisting my understanding of what boxes need to be ticked, it also helped me comprehend the wording of my project's purpose. Rather than just defining burnout to the animation's audience, I am more engaging them with its content and making them aware of the problems and signs of burnout.
Although I thought the PDS had been finalised, it was realised that further changes needed to be made. The second need was changed because rather than just defining burnout to the animation's audience, I am more engaging them with its content and making them aware of the problems and signs of burnout (as previously mentioned). I also felt that the third need doesn’t have to be included in the PDS as it is probably a given that the project needs to be sympathetic. It’s unlikely that I’ll be creating a project that isn’t. Due to my project taking a new direction to include an interactive part that allows participants to shape their own version of experiencing burnout, there was the addition of a new need.
