Here's some common directions that will hopefully help you in finding your way. 

• "Đi thẳng" [di tang] = go straight

  • "Đi" = to go 

  • "Thẳng" = straight 

• "Rẽ phải" [zey fai] = turn right

• "Rẽ trái" [zey chai] = turn left

  • "Rẽ" = to turn 

    • NOTE: this is more commonly used in Northen Vietnam 

• "Đến" = reach 

• "Gần đây" = near here 

  • "Gần" (adjective) = near/nearby/close 

  • "Đây" (noun) = this place here 

    • NOTE: the demostrative noun "đây" indicates a noun close to the speaker (THIS) 

• "Rẽ trái để đi nhà trọ" [zey chai die di nia cho] = turn left to go homestay

  • "Để đi" = to go

Here are some common places you'll go (and need to know)! 

• "Phòng vệ sinh" (feng vey sing) = toilet***

• "Trường học" (choung hoc) = school

• "Nhà trọ"  (nia cho) = homestay

• "Lớp học" (lep hoc) = classroom 

• "Sân cầu lông" (san cou long) = badminton court

• "Sân bóng rổ" (san bong zo) = basketball court

• "Phòng bếp" (feng bep)= kitchen

• "Phòng ăn" (feng an) = dining area
