The Impact of Girls 4 Engineering Equity
During the event participants all used the equipment properly and no one was messing around. The circuits were able to gain more engagement and we were able to get more participation on the second day. Our event helped expose more girls to engineering and helped fellow young women to achieve their goals of STEM representation!
This year it was hard to find an appropriate date that will allow all of our team members to participate in the event, especially due to AP testing and people going on summer vacations. The place that we decided to host the event also required our team members to fill out volunteer forms but the process needed for the adult members of our team was way too complicated for one event so they were unable to make it. During the first day some of our team members had to leave the event one hour early due to scheduling conflicts. In the future, we need to spend more time finding a set date ahead of time to allow everyone in the team to plan things around it. For the second day, the drills used in the event weren't charged so that reduced the efficiency of the participants and the Women in STEM workshop that we planned had to be canceled due to time. To prevent this from happening in the future, we need to assign a few members to be incharge of the different equipment that will be used during the event and to take more circumstances into account when planning the event.
