Module 4: Creating a To Do List

Module 4 will help you create a weekly to do list. It will walk you through on how to organize and tackle each item on your list with a plan.

Before you begin this module, think about your answers to these questions. If you can’t answer them all at this point, that’s OK, but this is “food for thought” as you think about what needs to be prioritized on a given day.

  • Walk and learn technique – Can I get my textbook on audio? Then I listen to it as I walk on a treadmill, or as I walk the dog or while eating dinner.
  • Use of small blocks of time – Do I carry flashcards in my pocket or purse that I can pull out while standing in line, sitting in my car at a fast food drive-up line, while waiting on an appointment, riding in a car or on a bus?
  • Quick reviews – Do I do a quick review of material before I go into each class? 5-10 minutes is all it takes to be on top of the material and shorten up future study time for tests.

Work Smart: How to Write a To-Do List

A to-do list is a fundamental tool for getting things done: It helps you plan your day, see what you've accomplished, and what you should work on next. But a badly written to-do list can actually sabotage your productivity instead of boost it.

Create Your To-Do List

Download the To-Do List Form, and complete each step.

IMPORTANT: Once this form opens, save the file under a new name on your computer in a location where you can easily find it (i.e., “My Documents” folder, and then create a “Time Management” folder within). If you simply click save without renaming it, the file may be very difficult to find.

Type your responses within the form fields. Save the document as you enter each of your responses and again at the very end.
