Exciting Adventures in Eastern World Geography!
Dear Students and Families,
This year, our 6th graders will embark on an exciting journey through Eastern World Geography! 🌏 From the bustling cities of Japan to the vast landscapes of Mongolia, students will explore diverse cultures, climates, and ecosystems.
Throughout the year, we’ll dive into fascinating topics such as the Great Wall of China, the deserts of the Middle East, and the unique wildlife of Southeast Asia. Students will engage in interactive projects, map-making activities, and even virtual field trips to bring these regions to life!
Get ready to discover the wonders of the East and how geography shapes our world. We can’t wait to see where this adventure takes us!

Curriculum Highlights
Quarter 1(August 5 to October 7) students used Minecraft to design their world to explain how geography, climate, and natural resources affect the way people live and work. It was amazing to see their creativity! Be on the lookout; their product will be posted soon!
Quarter 2 (October 8 to December 20) students will collaborate with their peers and choose an activity to explain one of the ancient civilizations: Assyrian Siege of Jerusalem, Hammurabi's Code, Egyptian Pyramids. This inquiry project will require a deep dive into research. I can't wait to see their final products. Check Google Classroom for project timeline and other resources to support this assignment.
For Quarter 2 (October 8 to December 20), 6th graders can:
Describe how early humans adapted to and modified their environments to survive.
Explain the significance of the Neolithic Revolution and how it changed human societies.
Identify the technological advancements that occurred during the Neolithic period.
Analyze how the development of agriculture led to the rise of complex societies.
Can use artifacts and archaeological evidence to learn about early human societies.
Can describe the methods archaeologists use to study ancient civilizations.
