the last page

this is the last portfolio page, so I'm going to make it good.

here is my CER. chimacum creek is doing just splendid. the DO is doing great, it is in the good range. the temperature is doing swell, making it so the DO is perfect for fish to breathe, flow rate is doing lovely, the fish can swim without needing to worry their little brains. PH is great, the water is not basic, and its not acidic. my reasoning only this, the water temp is right were it needs to be. so the DO is just doing so very fine because the water is plenty cold, and colder water means more DO, and more DO means happy fish.

we have done a lot this year. the first thing we did was do fish trapping, i will include a picture. and a graph.

this is an image of me when i was a petty officer, we were water quality testing.

this is the data we collected, when we went fish trapping.

we also did a global minecraft challenge made UNESCO. I will put the video in the space below, it will explain what happened.

this is the video.

after this, we studied benthic macro invedrbirtes. these bugs are small aquatic bugs, they don't have spines.

they generally prefer creeks, and infact I'm pretty sure that that the only climate you can find them. based on how many of them we found, and the fact that some of them were very pollution sensitive macros, i think that our creek is doing well.

after that, we did water quality testing. there were a few different parameters. theses are the parameters, D.O. (dissolved oxygen) P.H. (positive hydrogen) Turbidity, temperature , flow rate, and conductivity.

D.O. is oxygen that dissolves strait from the air. it then bonds with an O2 molecule. for every 08 air molecules, there is 01 million water molecules. this ads up to be enough for fish to breathe.

P.H. is the amount of positive hydrogen there is in the water. this determines weather the water is acidic or basic. there is a scale on how to measure this. the scale is from 1-14. below 07 is acidic, above 07 is basic. 07 on the scale is pure water, or pure H2o. the PH scale for our creek is very good, the water in not acidic or basic. its not quite pure though.

turbeidity is how cloudy the water is. our creek water is not to cloudy. so the fish can see. if the water is cloudy, then the fish can't see, and if fish can't see, then they will run into things, stray off path and die.

flow rate is measures, you guessed it...how fast the water moves. if our creek is nice and windey so the water dose not move to fast. a strait creek moves to fast for baby salmon, and salmon returning to they're spawning grounds.

temperature is how cold or hot the water is. our creek if 51F. so there is plenty D.O. if the water gets to warm, the D.O. will decrease.

conductivity is how electricity conducts through our water. it conducts fine.

i will include data graphs.
