My name is Darla Lieb. I am the Fitness and Health Teacher for Gilbertsville Elementary School.
I am a graduate of Lock Haven University with a bachelors degree in Health and Physical Education. I also have a masters degree in Fitness Management from the United States Sports Academy. This will be my 21st year teaching and my 15th year in the Boyertown Area School District. Prior to teaching in Boyertown, I taught Health and Physical Education to students in Kindergarten through 12th grade within the Southern Tioga School District.
In May of 2018 I was honored as the Elementary Physical Education TEACHER OF THE YEAR!!! This award was presented by the Lancaster, Lebanon, Berks Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (LLBAHPERD).
The LLBAHPERD Teacher of the Year Award recognizes Health and Physical Education professionals who conduct an exemplary program, utilize various teaching methodologies, plan innovative learning experiences, serve as a professional role model in the field, participate in professional development opportunities beyond district provided opportunities, and provide service to the profession.
I am the oldest of five girls and I grew up on a dairy farm. I played volleyball and pole-vaulted on the track and field team in both high school and college. Some of my current hobbies include spending time with my husband, weight training, yoga, cooking, gardening, fishing, hiking, biking, snowboarding, reading, traveling and working/playing outside. I am a strong advocate of living a healthy life and I strive to model this in all I do. I enjoy learning how to increase my level of health and wellness through exercise, nutrition, mindfulness and spirituality.
