MY BACKGROUND

My name is John Hagmann and I have been teaching in the Boyertown School District since 1996-1997. I taught 6th grade for eleven years until I moved down to 5th grade for 10 years and now back to 6th! My favorite grades when I was in school were 5th and 6th grade, so I think I am where I have always belonged!

I have lived in Gilbertsville since 1999, with my wife Karyn. Our son, Tyler, was born in 2000, our son, Colby, was born in 2003, and our daughter, Katie, was born in 2008. We also had a great dog, Maddie (she passed away on 1/13/23) - a golden retriever. I also coach my children when possible in their sports (baseball, basketball, soccer, and lacrosse) and I try to keep up with my favorite sport to play, golf.

I love math, history, and sports. I am an avid enthusiast when it comes to the Civil War and WW2. I am a huge fan of Disney World - my favorite place to go in the world. Also, if you are a Flyers, Eagles, Phillies, or Sixers fan, we will get along fine as well as Florida State!

I grew up going to Owen J Roberts High School, but transferred and graduated from St. Pius X in 1987. I then graduated from Babson College in 1991, with a B.S. in Entreprenurial Studies and Marketing with a minor in History. I worked in the corporate world for a few years and then received my M.A. in Elementary Education from Drexel University in 1996.

I will be using Google Classroom for all information and assignments this year when possible. I look forward to another great year working at Middle School East and with all of you each day!
