Broadcast
A second-semester project of mine is a podcast. I'm a huge sports fan, so my show focuses on hockey and lacrosse. I am currently researching and organizing content and will be giving my analysis on teams, players, and games, along with providing statistics. Though the first episode hasn't been released yet, I'm super excited for it to drop! This is all being done in the podcast booth Ash-West Community Media Studio located in the school and will all be linked to The Oakmonitor.

One of my favorite "projects" I have worked on was broadcasting. I was given this opportunity by Mike Milligan and I can't thank him enough. Doing live play-by-play commentating for Oakmont Ice Hockey has boosted my confidence in my knowledge of the game. I have learned so much this season, from accurate diction, terminology, rules of the game, voice inflection, pacing, and working with a partner live. I am excited to make this a focus of my future.

"Since the start of this school year, Nola has volunteered at the Ash-West Community Media Studio, our local media station, doing a variety of live sports productions, generating a podcast, and outlining and producing a story on the baseball coach’s award-winning season. She has shown great eagerness to learn. This winter, Nola took on the role of play-by-play commentator for live broadcasts of Oakmont High School’s Varsity hockey games. Not only has she shown improvement in calling games, but she has also shown a big interest in the understanding of sports media as a whole. Nola is always prepared and is never shy about showing her passion for sports." - Mike Milligan, AWCMS Access Coordinator
