For all the years of my high school experience, I took a Spanish class every year. These classes have opened my world to another language and different cultures. I think the best way to learn about a culture is to learn its language. I also believe that my time in my Spanish classes has taught me a lot about the cultures of different Spanish-speaking countries. Also, they have taught me skills that I can use to communicate with people for the rest of my life.
I took Film and Video Production and the advanced version of the class in my sophomore and junior years of high school. These classes ignited my love for filmmaking to a new level and gave me the experience of creating films with my peers. The art of film is an expression of the filmmaker's experience and themself. It can expose people to a culture or community that they would not have otherwise seen. A film has the power to spark change, evoke emotion in its audience, and communicate with people in a way that transcends language.
