At the end of my time in Israel this past summer, I had the opportunity to participate in a tree-planting ceremony. It has become traditional for groups to plant trees in the desert at the end of their visits so that the country can continue to prosper for the next generations. It is special to know that the trees my friends and I planted will stand in Israel long after we left.
One of the excursions we went on while in Israel was to visit the border wall in Gaza. My group worked alongside a program called Pathway to Peace, which works to bring some love and art to a tense environment.
The main focus of the Global Pathways Hawaii trip was helping to restore Hue Hue Ranch. We worked for two days to re-mulch and re-plant a section of the ranch while learning about the culture and the natural resources of the island.
