My Global Portfolio

About Me

My name is Anika Kapadia, I am 17 years old and have been a member of Global Pathways for the past four years. Some of my hobbies include traveling, trying new foods, hiking, and working out.

I am the captain of the cross-country team and the track and field team at my school. Additionally, I am the co-president of the club, "Cheering On Children's", at AHS. We meet every other week to organize fundraisers and write letters for kids in long-term hospitalization of for the Lawrence Boys and Girls Club. We have used all the money we have raised to buy gifts and put together care packages for Boston Children's Hospital.

Outside of school, I work part-time at a local cafe, Crack'd Kitchen and Coffee. At Crack'd I work as a food runner and cashier, through my experience at Crack'd I have picked up many people skills as I have dealt with many different types of people.  Additionally, I have been teaching an AWD swim class ( a swimming class for people of all ages, mostly kids) every Sunday for the past couple of years. This has taught me how to be extremely patient and quick thinking. Every kid is unique and learns best with different methods, I have learned to try out different methods and listen to what the kid wants to do without getting frustrated and at the same time making sure I am teaching.

I hope to use the knowledge I have gained and all my opportunities to help others who may not be as fortunate. I hope to pursue a career in the medical field where I will help anyone in need. Due to my interest in the medical field, I have been interning at Lowell General Hospital in the PACU and the surgical day care floor.

Athletics

VARSITY CROSS-COUNTRY AND TRACK

I have been a varsity cross-country and track runner since freshman year.  XC and Track has taught me to push myself through discomfort, run for not just myself, but my teammates, and to be a supportive teammate and leader. I am so thankful to have had an amazing coach who has been there cheering for me through every race and supportive through every injury. This year, as captain, one thing I am doing to motivate and support my team is awarding an MVP shirt every week to someone who shows good teamwork, improvement, and kindness.

JOB

Cashier/Food-runner @ CRACK'D Kitchen & Coffee

I have been working at Crack'd since May of 2022. During the school year I work Sundays from 6:30AM to 1:00PM because I have sports every other day. During the summer I work 2-3 days a week. Through working at Crack'd I have gained skills in leadership, customer service, teamwork, and the ability to deal with many different types of people.

Future Plans: Medical Field

Internship at Lowell General Hospital

"Cheering On Children's" Club

Through dealing with many sports-related injuries and witnessing my dad's stroke, I have become very fascinated with the medical field.  Over the summer I spent 12 hours a week interning and was able to gain experience through exposure to patients, shadowing doctors, and witnessing surgeries.

Cheering On Children's

I am the co-president of the “Cheering on Children's” club at my school that helps hospitalized kids at Boston Children’s by putting together care packages and cards. I spend time each week organizing fundraisers and planning club meetings. I know these gifts go a long way for these kids because when one of my best friends was in the hospital, my friends and I did something similar, and it helped her tremendously.
