I chose to tell a story that took place this past summer. What started as babysitting my brother having a sleepover with my freinds ended in a way none of us could have seen coming. Life takes many twists and turns and we should always expect the unexpected. None of us expected to be awoken at 4:00 in the morning to my street lined with cars and the reminents of my freinds car spread out on my street. but we had to accept it, do something about it, and move on.
When this project was first announced, I was very nervous as I am not the best public speaker. I love to talk and tell stories to my friends but something about standing in front of the class and talking for 5 minutes seemed impossible and scary. But, it ended up being fun. I was able to engage my audience with my hand gestures, humor, and relatable remarks. I think I successfully kept the audience interested and engaged by dramatizing the story a little bit and speaking to the class in a light-hearted and fun manner as if I was telling the story to my friends rather then making it scripted.
