World History

Freshman year I took World History, a class that enriched my knowledge of the development of various cultures around the world. Specifically, I learned about the development of Asian culture, Mongolia, and the greatest empires of the old world.



Spanish 3

Sophomore year I took Spanish 3, which allowed me to further expand my communication skills in the language. Additionally, we dove further into Spanish culture, specifically culture in Spain. During our projects on the regions of Spain, we learned a lot about the differing customs throughout the Spanish world

The Modern World

Sophomore year I also took the modern world history course. In the course, we examined many historical events from 1815 to the present. Simultaneously, we considered what events led to the major events that occured. Throughout our exploration, we studied different cultures and multiple perspectives throughout the time periods and in the present, which furthered my global knowledge.


Hispanic Language and CultureĀ 

Junior year I took Hispanic Language and Culture. Throughout the course we improved our writing and oral proficiency through assessments and oral reports. We also looked to historical and cultural readings to enhance our appreciation of the diversity found in the Spanish-speaking world, and studied the contributions to contemporary culture. We were also intruduced to short stories written by Spanish and Hispanic authors.

AP Spanish

My senior year I am taking AP Spanish. AP Spanish is the highest level Spanish course offered at the school. In AP Spanish we perfect our reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. We interpret and analyze literary themes, and discuss domestic and international issues. Throughoyt the course I have gained a well rounded knowledge of the Spanish world.


AP Environmental Science

This year I am also taking AP Environmental Science. In AP Environmental Science, we discuss how different local and global communities experience different environmental dangers. We also discuss the cultures of many third world countries to fully understand how the environment differs from country to country.


Capstone

AHS Capstone is a research course where we spend the entirety of senior year answering a researchable question through different research methods. My capstone focuses on how different countries deal with waste differently. To fully understand this topic, I have had to look into different customs and perspectives in different countries around the world.
