The ugly flower
One starry rainy night
The stars shimmered all across the sky
The ugly flower looks so devoured
She looks so sad straining to discover the hidden water
One starry rainy night
Rain on her dark pink sad petals
At that moment the ugly flower blooms slowly and swiftly
Her petals become bright like the shimmery stars
The ugly flower blooms
Once was ugly then set off like the star of the night
An ugly flower blooms
Rough times they called it
Families torn apart
babies taken from their mothers
But god, sent some of his finest angels
to get us out of these rough times
They were called Abolitionists
Those against the wicked
those who had a powerful voice
that carried through their actions
They marked the path of freedom
by risking their lives for us
Day by Day
Night by Night
Harriet Tubman
Frederick Douglass
Sojourner Truth
Prince Hall
William Still
Henry Highland Garnett
Sarah Parker Remond
put their lives on the line for us to have freedom
They all have their own story to tell
but Freedom came with a price
“Be Free or die”- Harriet Tubman

It took awhile but she made it
as she says by the grace of god.
