The Rock Cycle expressed through poetry
The Rock Cycle expressed through poetry
Mud Is My Mother
Mud is my mother
Earth is my father
The weight of their love
forms me
I grow from
weak specks of sediment
Grinding, grueling
Painful, pressure
Smidgens of silt and soil
merge into one
as I become sedimentary
No longer do I flow through the water
Now I am still
How I long to be metamorphic
Like a colorful butterfly
Changing, evolving
Never stagnant, never stale
How I yearn to be igneous
Flowing freely from fire
Born from ashes
My only hope
is that with time
I will weather
and erode
and return
to the earth
as sediment
And take my journey again
To form a new
me
