Journalism I, Period 7

My Biography

I was born in Portland, Maine, at Maine Medical Center. I lived in South Portland until the age of 5, and then moved to central Maine, to a town called Auburn. I started pre-kindergarten at a public school near my house and happily continued to attend school there until Covid-19 hit, at the end of the fifth grade. From the start of the pandemic to the near end, I stayed home and attended virtual school. The pandemic ended my dancing career, which I had been pursuing since the age of 6. As the pandemic was waning, I started attending a private school in Auburn, where I met my best friends and enjoyed my middle school life. I started playing sports at my new middle school and loved playing lacrosse. I have a younger sister, who is six and a half years younger than me. I also had a dog, Jedi, who recently passed away. I recently moved to Austin, Texas after living in Auburn for almost 10 years, and am enjoying life here!

Journalism

I signed up for Journalism I for multiple reasons. I have always associated being in high school with newspapers, and student councils, and I wanted to fulfill a dream for my younger self. I also currently would like to pursue a career in law, and being able to write in multiple situations and have a strong voice is important for many aspects in law. It has also been a recent personal goal of mine to also progress in writing, and I believe that this class will benefit me greatly in that regard.

Digital Media

I have no major experience with public digital media, but do enjoy taking pictures while traveling. As my family and I travel frequently, we try to try to take as many pictures as possible. I believe that photos are truly time travel in a sense, and that being in the moment can include documenting the experience. My middle school had no yearbook clubs or classes, and also did not have any type of media classes, therefore I have not been exposed to any type of digital or physical journalism in my school life.
