To solve math's problems at Year 6, it is very important for your child to be able to instantly recall addition and subtraction facts up to 20 and to know their multiplication and division facts up to 10 x 10. This should be practiced daily at home in order to support in-class learning.

NUMBER: NUMBER: MULTIPLICATION AND DIVISION

This term for Number Knowledge we are focusing on Multiplication and Division (Level 3):

  • Use all multiplication and division facts to 10 x 10.

  • Use doubling and halving (2-digit x 1-digit).

  • Use trebling and thirding (2-digit x 1-digit).

  • Use place value partitioning (2-digit x 1-digit)

  • Use rounding and compensating (2-digit x 1-digit).

  • Instantly recall the multiplication and division facts for x7, x8 and x9.

  • Identify and understand 'factors'.



STRAND: GEOMETRY

This term for Strand Maths, we will be focusing on Geometry (Level 3):

  • Sort complex shapes by their physical attributes and justify decisions.

  • Represent objects using drawings and models


STRAND: MEASUREMENT

This term for Strand Maths, we will be focusing on Measurement (Level 3):

  • Calculate the difference between multiple measurements.
