This term we will be focusing on:
Week 1 - 4: Fiction and Non-fiction texts based around identity and culture. Our learning focus will be on making connections between texts, ourselves, and the world using both texts and media.
Week 5 - 10: Fiction and Non-fiction texts with a historical focus. We will be reading texts relating to early settlement of Aotearoa, kearning about the history of New Zealand.

Identify the point of view of the author and explain the ways language has been used to support this view.

View other text/film/media and link the ideas back to the text.
Year 6 - Reading Progressions
Purpose and Audience
Identify the author's purpose, explain the ways they have used language and ideas to suit their purpose and evaluate the impact of the message.
