An Iteration of Selbbin
Selbbin is a 3lb weight class counter rotating vertical spinner. The counter rotating disks travel at high speed and are electronically synced so that the single toothed disks 'bite' at the front of the robot. The hardened steel disks carry huge amounts of energy and their high surface hardness allows them to bite into most materials seen in the 3lb weight class. They also provide gyro cancelling affects making Selbbin more nimble than other similar vertical spinners. Because of the weight of the disks used in the Selbbin prototype, the final version of Selbbin may use a shuffling cam mechanism instead of wheels to gain a weight bonus. The project is currently on hiatus over summer 2023.
Selbbin started life as a prototype of just the weapon assembly. This prototype is designed to be as close as accurate to the final weapon system as possible, while saving the cost for the full robot for later. It is also a development platform that allows us to work on the control system of the weapon. Because the two disks are electronically timed using sensor feedback, tuning of a control system is needed to adjust the power sent to each disk.
