Blender is our 120lb combat robot. It is a full body spinner that has a 70lb titanium shell that spins at 120 mph with hardened steel impactors. It can drive around at 15mph. Blender was created in 2004 by a group of students at Richardson High School. In 2007 Blender won BotsIQ. In 2009 Blender won the Battle Bots High School Championship. In 2011 students from Richardson High School brought the Blender Project to UTD. Blender competed in the 2013, 2015, and 2017 Robogames.
In April of 2017 after losing a match against the Brazilian robot Touro Blender was brought back home. While the team was trying to figure out what went wrong during the match, Blender caught on fire. After this Blender was abandoned and the UTDallas Battlebots team dissolved after all of the members graduated. Now days Blender is sitting partially disassembled in the UT Design Makerspace. We were thinking about reviving Blender but the original founder of the UTDallas Battlebots team told us Blender was a lost cause. The Blender that we have is the original 2009 Blender that was reused in 2013, 2015, and 2017.
