Grade 4
Our 4th Grade musicians attend two, 40-minute music classes each week. We explore using our singing voices in a healthy way to sing alone, in unison and in 2 and 3-part harmony. We play percussion instruments as accompaniment to singing, and as a cohesive instrumental ensemble. In the spring, 4th Grade musicians also learn to play more complex recorder music through our own unique "Black Belt Recorder" program. 4th Grade musicians explore and practice using musical contrasts to express ideas and emotions. We solidify our understanding of steady beat through movement and dance, and we learn to decode and compose more complex rhythmic and melodic notation.

NEW for 2023-2024
This year we will be offering a new "Pre-Band" program for aspiring members of our Middle School Band. This program meets after school, once per week and gives students a jump-start on learning to play a traditional band instrument. Check it out 👉
