Grade 3
Our 3rd Grade musicians attend two, 40-minute music classes each week. We explore using our singing voices in a healthy way to sing alone, in unison and in 2-part harmony. We play percussion instruments as accompaniment to singing, and as a cohesive instrumental ensemble. In the spring, 3rd Grade musicians learn to play the recorder through our own unique "Black Belt Recorder" program. 3rd Grade musicians explore and practice using musical contrasts to express ideas and emotions. We solidify our understanding of steady beat through movement and dance, and we learn to decode and compose more complex rhythmic and melodic notation.
