Algebra

Google classroom will list the items that need to be completed before your "Spring Break" begins. Please make sure you are turning in all assignments, as well as all papers that show your workspace. Also, complete the IXL work listed. Then, have a GREAT BREAK!


Pre-Algebra

You should have completed the activity on BuzzMath by this morning. If not, make sure it is done TODAY!

Today is the assessment/test on Chapter 8. You are welcome to use your spiral, but you should be completing the test on your own. I will be available from 9 - 2 to talk with you if you call the school office and go to my extension. Phone calls are forwarded to my cell. The test is a Google Form - go to Classroom to start. The test needs to be completed by 3pm TODAY.


Language Arts

  1. Most of you need to fix your first body paragraph in some way. Please see my notes in Classroom, and follow my instructions. Be sure to use the handout posted in Classroom as your guide when you include quotations in your body paragraphs.

  2. You must also complete the first draft of body paragraph #2 and body paragraph #3 before the end of today. Remember that each body paragraph needs to include one quotation from the book, properly formatted.

  3. Go to Classroom for your daily poem!

  4. Happy birthday to Jake (on the 15th)!

  5. Happy Easter to you and your family! Have a blessed, healthy, and restful vacation.

  1. Be sure to watch the video first.

  2. Be sure to make any corrections in your introductory paragraph that I advised. Copy and paste your introduction into the new body paragraph assignment space, and then continue with your essay.

  3. We are moving on with our essays. You will be writing your first body paragraph, which includes one quotation from The Book Thief that will help to prove what you wrote in your thesis statement. Please go to Classroom, and carefully examine the handout that gives you the format for including the quotation properly. You must follow this format exactly as it is shown. This paragraph should be eight sentences or more and, as always, written in 12 font and double-spaced. Finish this by Sunday night. Remember: no contractions or the use of the word "you" unless these are found in the quotation. Also, use present or past tense consistently in your essay. I am excited to see who will win the Best 8th Grade Essay Award this year. It could be you!

  4. Read the poem in Classroom just for fun!

  1. You will be writing the title for your essay on The Book Thief. You will also be writing your introductory paragraph. This is due by the end of the day on Thursday. Please write your essay in Classroom. Here is what you need to include:

    1. Your title, centered at the top and capitalized correctly

    2. An attention-grabbing opening sentence or sentences to start your introductory paragraph

    3. A sentence that includes the title of the book, underlined or italicized; the name of the author, spelled correctly; and the character you will be analyzing

    4. Two to three more sentences that lead to your thesis statement

      1. You could briefly state why you like this character and how you identify with this character and/or if you know anyone who resembles this character

    5. A thesis statement that names your topic and provides a framework for your paper

    6. REMEMBER: NO CONTRACTIONS AND NO USE OF THE WORD "YOU"!

  1. Topic: Continue project in your existing Tinkercad or Scratch accounts. Don't make a new account, use the one for our class.

  2. Watch this video explaining your independent project.

  3. Sign on to your account, contact me if you cannot log in.

  4. Assignment: Continue working on your own to improve an existing ORIGINAL file, or start a new one.

  5. 5 Points: In the assignment turn-in, take a screen shot when you are done working with your project today, and "add" it to the assignment. This screen shot is not the finished product, but to help you and I see progress each time. One of you has to send me the link to it.
    If you have questions, you can email me or do a private post in classroom. (I don't get notification though in classroom, but I'll see it when I open it next)

We are wrapping up Chapter 7 today! You should complete your review guide today. On Wednesday, we will Zoom at 11am, link will be posted on Wednesday. During the session we will discuss the essays, attempt to play Kahoot to review and discuss any questions you have. For the review guide, you need to complete the terms AND BULLETPOINT three facts for each essay question as well. I hope to see you all on zoom on Wednesday.
