WHAT IS THE CSS PROFILE?
The CSS Profile is an online application used by select colleges and scholarship programs to award non-federal institutional aid. It is used by over 300 schools nationally and is a more in-depth and nuanced financial aid application than the FAFSA. To apply for federal aid, students must complete the FAFSA.
WHO IS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE CSS PROFILE?
Many colleges do not require the CSS Profile. Before starting the application, students should make sure that it's required by any of the colleges they're applying to. Click here to see a full list of colleges that require it. In Minnesota, the following colleges require the CSS Profile:
Gustavus Adolphus College (only required if students are not eligible to complete the FAFSA)
WHEN IS THE DEADLINE?
Each college that requires the CSS Profile will have their own deadline. Students should check the college's website to confirm the deadline. If a student is planning on applying Early Action or Early Decision, they may have a CSS Profile deadline as early as November.
