Gap Year

Need some time away? Consider a gap year before your next step.

What is a Gap Year?

A Gap Year is a chance to take some time between high school and college to design a year with specific goals in mind. Typically a Gap Year is related to exploring a personal interest, volunteering for a cause building job skills. Students often travel or volunteer for a cause instead of going right to college. An intentional gap year can benefit students in many ways: help a student develop purpose and clarity for life and post-secondary studies. Gap years have also been known to improving earning and business potential by providing students with a more global background that is tested in the real world. Remember, a Gap Year isn’t a year off, it’s a year on.

How do I know it's right for me?

You want to explore the world or work on a cause you feel passionate about but you don’t want that experience to be contained to a classroom. Gap years are a great chance to have some different experiences before you get back in the classroom. Most students who pursue a gap year do intend to enroll in a college or university after their year of exploring.
