What is a Certificate Program?

A certificate program is a short-term training option that will prepare you for a specific job. You’ll typically complete some classroom instruction and training to learn a specific skill which will prepare you to work.

How do I know it's right for me?

The idea of going to school full time or for a long time doesn’t sound right for you right now, but you want to learn to do something that will make you highly employable! Certificate programs are a way to gain a specific skill in a short amount of time, enter the workforce and start earning money. You may want to go back to school later using the skills you’ve learned and money you’ve earned.


Average Salary: $45K

Time Commitment: a few weeks up to a year

Focus Area Examples: Forklift driving, Nursing assistant, web design, automotive, and more

Pros: Provides specific skills, high employability, less debt, quick access to work

Cons: Program Cost, lower income ceiling, may need additional training in the future

How do I find one?

There are many short term certificate programs available for you to join after high school. Take some time and research which one might be the best fit for you.

How do I apply?

Each certificate program will have their own application process. It’s important to find out what you need to do to be considered. Once you have found a program you’re interested in, find out what it takes to apply and be accepted into the program. If you need help, talk to your Career Pathway Center Coordinator!
