Rationale
The Board is committed to providing a safe, inclusive and equitable environment for learning.
Purpose.
The Board of St Patrick’s Catholic School aims to ensure that all students (regardless of gender, religion, ethnicity, socio-economic status, family background or ability) are able to participate in all aspects of schooling and realise their full potential.
Guidelines
Treaty of Waitangi / Te Tiriti o Waitangi
St Patrick’s Catholic School is committed to meeting its responsibilities under the Treaty of Waitangi / Te Tiriti o Waitangi
The school recognises the unique status of Maori as tangata whenua
The school is committed to equity outcomes for Maori students and will report to the Board and to the community regularly on Maori student data
Decision Making
All decisions will be characterised by impartiality and fairness
The school will show respect for diverse groups of people in its decision making
Inclusion
All staff members will support equitable access, support, engagement and success for all students
Teaching programmes and resources must be unbiased and, where possible, reflect the diverse range of groups represented in the school
No student should be denied access to a learning opportunity due to their gender, ethnicity, ability, religion or socio-economic status
Equity
School data will regularly be analysed with an emphasis on equitable outcomes
When necessary, resourcing will be given to those groups or individuals who are not achieving successfully at school
