Home learning and notices

Learning @ Home

Each day we spend time in small groups with the teacher developing our reading and writing ability. Each day we bring home a reading book to practice with you. We really need you to make some time to sit and help us to build our reading skills. You can help us by: showing us how to sound out the first letter of each word when we get stuck; encouraging and praising us when we get frustrated at our ability or lose interest in it (but not to pressure us); and to read small story books to us to show us to help us grow our enjoyment of reading.

Homework books

Each Monday homework books are given out in class for the week. It has opportunities to develop spelling, writing, and numeracy knowledge over time. It also connects to class inquiry learning from time to time.

This is a time for you to connect with your child and support them in growing in confidence with what they can do. With your interest, they develop interest.

It is not compulsory, however I would encourage you to consider the advantages of practice to build skills and knowledge as a way to grow and learn.
