For this assignment you will use what you know about value and create a portrait using the grid method. The grid method is an important tool in art because it allows an artist to copy/enlarge an image to draw or paint from. Using a grid allows for accuracy and helps the artist create a work of art that is precise and drawn just as one sees it. This is a skillful tool to master and is used to further advance drawing skills as an artist. Students will select an image and edit it in photoshop by postering and allowing only 4-2 values per image. Students will use 2H, HB, 2B, and 6B pencils to create drawings and based on values present in portrait image. The key to this assignment is taking your time and WORKING BOX-BY-BOX so don’t rush and slowly your image will start to appear!
