The project were making is a windmill that will create electricity. phase one is testing designs phase 2 is cutting out the project and phase 3 is getting all the wiring done and phase 4 is fixing the problems that will occur.
We finished the small scale test my blade design proved itself to be the superior design. my blades got an average volt output of about .045v while hunters design got about .035v so that told us that my blade design was superior in making electricity and can spin with more torque and speed.
We cut the base and mast we cut out the base and the mast of the wind mill it took most of the hour and almost half of the next hour because there were four passes per piece and I was told to sit and watch it but because there were so many other things i called it and stopped the shop bot and will continue tomorrow as the next day came we cut the support legs and triangles today, we continued the cut for the triangle and the wedges and then i started to think of how to assemble it. i thought i would would just use a bunch of glue but Mr. Memer said that glue should be our 2nd option. so we thought of how to screw them into the wood and make everything so it can be taken apart.
We got the DC motor wired up after a few failures. initially we used jumper wires to connect it to the power inverter. but the problem it that they keep coming apart so we tried to heat shrink them together and it helped for a little while but it was extremely ineffective and would eventually break apart again. so on the 7th we got some lengths of red and black wire and soldered them directly the the motor leads and it worked out beautifully and we no longer need to worry about the wires coming off.
