STORYCORPS MOBILE COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS
RECORDING IN PHILADELPHIA
May 28 - June 26, 2019
LIMIT ON NUMBER APPOINTMENTS FOR EACH PARTNER ORGANIZATION: We've had overwhelming response from partners in Philadelphia! Because we want everyone to get a chance to book priority appointments, for organizations that attended the April 17th meeting or had individual meetings/contact on the week of April 22, each organization can book up to three (3) appointments, until further notice.
Wednesday, April 17th (4/17): Community Partners Information Meeting
Wednesday, April 25 - Sunday, May 12 (4/24 to 5/12): Community Partners sign up pairs of participants
Monday, May 13th (5/13): Last day to schedule first round of priority appointments. You should have your appointment reservations booked by this date. You will have access after this date, but this first deadline will provide you with the most choices of dates and times.
Tuesday, May 28th (5/28): Last day to schedule second round priority appointments (less availability). The following date we will open our calendar to the public and you will no longer be able to book on the priority system.
Tuesday, May 28th (5/28): Opening Day Event at The Porch at 30th Street Station and First Day of Recording (click for details and to RSVP)
Thursday, June 13 (6/13): Story Project Workshop for Partners (Click to RSVP before June 7th)
Tuesday, June 25th (6/25): Philadelphia Listening Party! (Click to RSVP, space is limited)
Wednesday, June 26th (6/26): Last recording day
Be sure to keep an eye on our community partner calendar to stay up-to-date on events and other information during our month in Philadelphia.
BOOTH LOCATION
The Porch at 30th Street Station
Each partner organization will dedicate a point-person who is in charge of booking appointments for participants. We will email you the link to our advance calendar so that you can book appointments before they go public. It is very important that you enter contact information for BOTH participants, so that we can contact them to confirm their appointments.
Once you've booked appointments for your participants, our Mobile Team will contact each participant to talk through the StoryCorps recording process, give them details about location and parking, and answer any questions they may have. If point people would like to give participants more details about StoryCorps before we call them, we recommend taking a look at our What to Expect page and reading through our list of Great Questions to help participants get an idea of what they might want to talk about during a recording.
Participants can choose to talk about the organizations that booked their appointment, but they do not have to. StoryCorps participants are welcome to discuss anything they find meaningful during their 40-minute recording. Many participants find it worthwhile to discuss an experience they went through or choose to talk about memories in common with their conversation partner. We don't look for anything specific in a recording; this is a chance for participants to talk about something important to them that they would like to document.
(For your participants)
Here is a flyer to help explain what StoryCorps is to the people involved in your community before the priority appointments deadline. You can click on the link, add the point person's contact information, and use it to recruit participants who will rely on the point person to book their appointments.
Here are links to some social media graphics and sample social copy below. Feel free to share them on your pages to announce our partnership.
