What Should StoryCorps Participants Expect From a Recording?

• Each organization we partner with will dedicate a point-person who is in charge of coordinating appointments for participants. We will email you the link to our advance calendar so that you can book appointments before they go public. It is very important that you enter contact information for BOTH participants, so that we can contact them to confirm their appointments.
• Once you've booked appointments for your participants, our Mobile Team will contact each participant to talk through the StoryCorps recording process, give them details about location and parking, and answer any questions they may have. As the coordinator of these appointments, we encourage you to provide your participants with as many details as possible. You can find additional materials in our "Participant Engagement" section.
• Participants are welcome to talk about the organizations who coordinated their appointment, but they do not have to. Participants can talk about anything they would like to during their 40-minute recording. Many participants find it meaningful to discuss an experience they went through or talk about how they might know their partner. We don't look for anything specific in a recording; this is a chance for participants to talk about something important or meaningful to them that they would like to document. Our best recordings are those that are meaningful for conversation partners.
