Translations

My work—and my thinking—moves across languages. I grew up bilingual, speaking both the Bresciano dialect and Italian. Over the years, I have studied ancient Greek, Latin, and Chinese, and I am fluent in French, German, and Spanish.  I was honored with the Dean's Award for Excellence in Graduate Teaching by a Faculty Member for the course I teach on Translation Theory at Stony Brook. I have received grants from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to translate subtitles for my films. I also contributed to a collaborative laboratory involving students from multiple Humanities departments at Stony Brook, which produced subtitles for Beyond the Frame and Dardanelles. Many of my articles have originated in one language and taken on new meanings and forms through translation.
