This course explores the history of art from ancient Greece through the twentieth century, with a primary focus on the artistic achievements of the Western world. Emphasis is placed on the major civilizations and cultural movements that shaped the development of art across time. You will examine a range of art forms—including painting, sculpture, architecture, manuscript illumination, and photography—while considering the historical and cultural contexts in which these works were created.
