Quality of Education

English

Last term, the English leads discussed writing strategies and this term, they met to explore the teaching of reading and writing in more detail.

Together, Reading in English was to be a focus for English Leads in both schools - speaking about different options of assessment, the teaching of Reading and how transition can work between Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3. Due to COVID-19, this is now going to be a focus when schools return.

Looking ahead where possible, our respective Inclusion departments will also meet to discuss how to support SEND children and transition for reading, especially given the gap in school time created by COVID-19.

Maths

We have continued to focus our attention at St Michael's on the key links between the curriculum and vocabulary. Due to COVID-19 we will continue to focus on this when we return. In particular, we will look at the key areas of teaching that was missed, deciding where to place our focus in Years 5 to 8.

We will continue with using the lesson that we designed in our project at the end of last year to look at links in our curriculum and discuss areas we can improve.

General

The Senior Leadership Teams met and discussed shared strategies around Growth Mindset and behaviour, ICT and the use of Computing as well as how to support within Maths, English, Music and Humanities.

When back at school, key focus areas will be shared Maths and English work, how to collaborate more on Music and Humanities from Saint Cecilia's and support from St. Michael's with IT.
