"Working together for the good of all"
At St Michael’s CE Primary the intention of our MFL curriculum is to develop interest and enthusiasm for learning other languages. We aim to introduce the learning of the French language and the understanding of its culture in enjoyable and stimulating ways, for example through song and rhyme, role play and cross curricular themes. By modelling and embedding the essential skills of listening, reading, speaking and writing in French, we lay the foundations for all future language learning.
Our MFL lessons are inclusive and accessible to all with a focus on accurate phonic pronunciation and use of visuals to support vocabulary development. We use a range of opportunities for children to apply and practice their French in real life contexts, including:
French café experiences.
French days in which the school comes together to celebrate an element of francophone culture.
