"Working together for the good of all"
At St Michael's CE Primary, our core aim is to equip pupils to use computational thinking and creativity to understand and positively engage with the world. We prepare learners for an ever-changing digital future by ensuring they become digitally literate - able to use, and express themselves and develop their ideas through information and communication technology – at a level suitable for the future workplace and as active participants in a digital world.
The curriculum focuses on a progression of skills across digital literacy, computer science, information technology, and online safety. As pupils mature, it is crucial they develop a critical awareness of online behaviour and effective strategies for staying safe and making a positive contribution online. By repeatedly revisiting these skills through a range of themes, we ensure learning is embedded and also supports creativity to enrich their overall school experience.
As our learners grow older, it is crucial that they learn to balance the benefits offered by technology with a critical awareness of their own and other’s online behaviour and develop effective strategies for staying safe and making a positive contribution online.
