We warmly welcome our new prep children and families to St Thomas More Primary School for 2022. Transition to school is an extremely exciting one, and in normal years we would be able to welcome you and your children to participate in transition events face to face. Unfortunately, in the current COVID climate, this is not possible. We have however, created several opportunities to support you and your child to prepare for the learning and faith journey towards 2022, and to answer any questions or queries that you may have.
This 'transition hub' contains important information for you to read and to watch. Below, our Principal Marcy De Nardis has shared a message of welcome and support. We encourage you to watch it with your children.
This site also contains several pages that unpack various details about transition and the life of learning at St Thomas More. This includes:
Learning & STM : Meet the leadership team and learn a little about the life of learning and faith at St Thomas More
Child Safety Standards
What do we dream for our children? Your chance to reflect on what you hope for your child's learning journey
Tips and Tricks : Advice and resource to support your child through transition
Dates and Info : Important dates, and information to help you feel supported
Resources for your children
We invite you to also attend one of our two parent Q&A sessions that will be run live via Google Meets. These will be facilitated by our Leadership team, to answer any questions that you may have. These will be held on November 9 and 16 at 2pm. You are welcome to attend one or both if you wish. The link to this meet will be included in the banner at the top of this site on the day of the meet.
Please familiarise yourself with the information in this site, and we look forward to answering any questions you have at our Q&A session.
2020 and 2021 has brought many challenges, and transition to school has been impacted in several ways. In order to organise the class groupings, our usual face to face sessions allow our teachers to observe children and consider individual needs and dynamics. In 2021 this has not been possible. As such, our 2022 prep children will commence the year as a group, lead by a team of three prep teachers. Supported by our NCCD team, the prep children will work in small groups, and as a whole throughout the first few weeks of school, developing routines and getting to know one another. Once the teachers have had the opportunity to observe and work with your children, their grades will be finalised. Please be patient, as this may take a few weeks. The teachers have shared a video of welcome in the 'resources for children' page of this hub.
As we commence a new school year in 2022, we pray for the health and wellbeing of our children and all of those in our community. We pray that our children feel safe and supported to grow and fulfil their potential. We pray for our teachers and our staff who work to guide and nurture them. We pray for our parents and wider community, that we may all work together in faith and strength for the wellbeing of all.
