Printing- Dave Elsom
We had the privieldge of welcoming a local printing artist Dave Elsom to assist the children during our block printing topic this term. The children created their own printed design, practised chiselling using a polystyrene tile and bar of soap, before moving onto a lino tile. They created some beautiful designs for their Leavers Mass invitations!
Surrealism- Shaun Tan
The children have created some amazing pieces of art in the style of surrealist artist Shaun Tan. They created their own surrealist cityscape and monument, then painted it in their choice of monochrome watercolour to create a desired effect of mood and atmosphere.
The children chose pictures of insects to draw and shade, considering proportion and tone to develop their close observational skills.
In our second lesson, the children have been exploring different drawing techniques linked to realism and using pencils to create tone.
Entomology- Darwin's drawings
In our first art lesson this week, the children used a coffee wash to create an aged- effect introduction about the life and work of the naturalist who had a significant impact of our understanding of the natural world - Charles Darwin.
